Climber checks-in at TheVentureCity

TheVentureCity Team

Hospitality, like many old-line industries, is being disrupted by the next wave of tech startups. However, modernization is taking the form of changes in the consumer-end rather than the back-end of things at the hotel industry. In this regard, Climber gets down to business. Using data science to recommend the best prices to hotel management, they indicate how much a room should cost by weighting in variables such as seasonal fluctuation, vacancies, services, and competitor bids.Climber, which was founded in Lisbon in 2016, claims that 90% of small hotel managers still manually enter data into spreadsheets to set room rates. Manual processes take more than 20 hours per week to complete and have pitfalls, such as not considering competitors’ data or containing formula errors. This startup’s mission is deceptively simple: To update and optimize accounting processes for hotels and, thus, improve overall performance and determine income opportunities faster. The Portuguese startup enters our Growth Program after securing clients in Hungary, Mozambique and Malaysia, in addition to Portugal.Mario Mouraz, CEO of Climber, expects his company to become a benchmark. “We want hotels to make decisions based on the constant flow of data. TheVentureCity will help us discover the main growth drivers behind our company. We know that there are brilliant people here looking to help founders like us,” said Mouraz.

Climber seeks to grow into a Business Intelligence company that will suggest prices for sporting events, parking spaces and different companies whose services are vulnerable to rapid value changes.

Mario and his team know that their opportunities extend well beyond the hospitality sector. They are ready to climb (interestingly enough, all of the founders are mountain climbers, hence the name) towards a Business Intelligence company that will suggest prices for sporting events, parking spaces and different companies whose services are vulnerable to rapid value changes.Climber shows a huge potential for scalability. “This company has clear objectives, and that motivates us at TheVentureCity because we will focus on optimizing the work around those bases so that the team can achieve great milestones,” said Andrés Dancausa, VP of the Growth Accelerator EMEA at TheVentureCity. We proudly welcome Climber to our Growth Program and “hope you enjoy your stay” in our Garden!
